Lineside is widely regarded as one of the toughest tests on the course, demanding both courage and precision from tee to green. The tee shot is played to a blind fairway, with out of bounds lurking just beyond the left-hand side. Players face an early decision: take on the brave line down the left for the reward of a much easier approach, or favour a safer route to the right and accept a more difficult shot into the green. The approach is no less demanding. A solitary bunker guards the front right of the green, while the putting surface itself slopes significantly from right to left. As a result, approaches played from the right-hand side of the fairway — or from the right rough — often struggle to hold the green and can be swept away by the contours. A hole that rewards commitment and smart course management, Lineside presents a stern challenge and is one of the key holes in any good scorecard.
