The second par 5 in the opening four holes, Gun offers a chance to build momentum and make a fast start — provided you've successfully negotiated the challenges of the 1st and 3rd. A hazard runs along the left-hand side of the hole, making the right side the safer option. However, as with the 2nd and 3rd, those willing to take on the left side are rewarded with a more favourable angle for their approach into the green. The approach demands accuracy, with two deep bunkers guarding the front of the green on either side. Finding the putting surface is only part of the challenge, as the green itself can be difficult to read and often catches out players who underestimate its subtle movements. A good birdie opportunity for a well-positioned drive, but one that still requires careful execution to walk away with a score.
